Domino’s unveils spoof Mexican soap on Facebook

Domino’s is combining the best of TV and social media marketing with a spoof Mexican soap opera on Facebook to launch its latest Mexicano product range.

Animated by BAFTA winning animation director Jim Le Fevre, Los Passiones de la Familia Verduras launches today (July 13th) as a mini-series on the pizza brand’s Facebook page.

The three-part ‘drama’ stars a family of vegetables, following their trials and tribulations as the father, Don Cebollo – one tough onion, allows his son Chili to marry Consuela Tomate, a tomato from a rival family.

To further spark engagement with customers, viewers are given multiple choice questions to guess what happens next.

They can also come up with their own ending to the soap opera with a chance to win a Nokia Lumia 800.

Simon Wallis, sales and marketing director for Domino’s, said: “To celebrate the launch of our Mexicano range, we wanted to bring to life some of the key pizza toppings to create a fun and engaging mini-series.

“Los Passiones de la Familia Verduras has all the essential elements of any soap – two tormented lovers, family feuds, money and murder.”
