Bakery chain Greggs is launching a viral campaign featuring zombies to promote its Halloween-themed products.
Central to the digital activity is an online viral video, Britain Prepare for Zombies: Only Humans Allowed, which shows the ‘undead’ taking over a Greggs shop.
The ad ends by directing viewers to the brand’s Facebook page, where they can get updates on zombie sightings.
Nationwide sampling events at 14 key locations will support the online activity throughout October in the run-up to Halloween, driving awareness of the retailer’s range of “pumpkin doughnuts” and “spooky ringbuns”.
Consumers will be able to taste the Halloween-themed products and upload pictures of themselves with zombies to enter a competition.
“Halloween is fun time for customers, whether they are throwing a themed party at home, spending the night in with some nail-biting horror flicks, or out and about trick-or-treating,” a Greggs spokesman told The Drum.
“We wanted the viral to capture that fun spirit of Halloween.”
