Birmingham International Airport Flies High With Power Of PR

Birmingham International Airport wanted to raise awareness of their long haul destinations.  A leaflet drop of ‘boarding passes’ took place in the Birmingham Bullring Shopping Centre, which invited people to register for Cloud Nine, the airport’s magazine, and win a weekend away. 

This was followed by competitions in four regional newspapers giving deserving people the chance to win a holiday to their dream destination.  Winners chose holidays to Las Vegas, Mauritius, the Caribbean and Jamaica.  The coverage generated would have cost more than £150,000 to buy as advertising space, representing a 1,000 per cent return on investment.
